do you doubt your talents?

it’s all part of the process

charlie rose talks to

photographer, richard avedon

It doesn’t seem to matter how famous you are, how much talent you have, or where you are in your career. Even the greatest of artist’s doubt themselves. Knowing that a master, like Richard Avedon, had his moments, makes you realize that we’re all human. Art is a process. It can be a spiritual journey that opens you up to everything that is raw in your life, including not feeling like your good enough to pursue your dreams and talents.

Next time you say, “I can’t do that. I’m not as good as (fill in the blank here). I’m not talented enough.” You can rest assured that even the most talented people often feel exactly as you do. No reason to use this as an excuse to miss out on the potential to express your talents and share your gifts with others. It’s all just part of the process of keeping it all going… and moving forward in your life, as a artist, a mother, a business woman, or anything else you may completely committed to in your lifetime.

Wonderful blog! Do you have any suggestions for aspiring writers? I’m planning to start my own site soon but I’m a little lost on everything. Would you propose starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for a paid option? There are so many options out there that I’m completely overwhelmed .. Any recommendations? Appreciate it!

Austin, I really think that the only way to start the writing process, is to write daily. And, then, put it out there. It might not be perfect at first, nothing ever is. But, if we don’t take the chance to by stepping into our dreams, we aren’t leaving ourselves the option to grow. You can do it! Have you ever read the book, “Wabi Sabi for Writers” by Richard R. Powell? It’s a great book to help you start.
